I was able to walk to all the events. There's a stores, restaurants and everything you need right on base within walking distance. (Bring your walking shoes) Gateway Villa has for purchase some goodies at the front desk ( toothbrush, toothpaste, soda, sprites, snacks, etc...) They are very accommodating. The only thing I had an issue with is the heating and cooling, it's central. You can not turn ON the heat. But you can ask for more blankets and put on more clothes ; ) or open the window and let the warm air in.
The room looked like it had been recently updated with new carpet and a nice kitchenette. The room was clean, which is very important to my wife and she felt comfortable. The tempature in the room was nice, wasn't humid like most hotel rooms in a hot climate. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. The reason I gave three stars is because they don't offer any rooms with more than one bed. We had our two children with us and had to buy a Pack N Play at the BX so they would have somewhere to sleep. The bedding wasn't much and didn't keep us warm. If we have to stay here again we'll bring more bedding. Overall, the experience was good.
I can't wait to come back to San Antonio. Our stay was better than any hotel room we have been in. The staff are all very nice and very polite. HUA.
Some of the best billeting I've ever stayed in. I loved having a full-sized refrigerator and a two-burner stove.
I recommend placing your reservations as soon as possible. They fill up fast.
Perfect for seeing my son's graduation. ☆
For a military/TAD stay this is a great place and very convenient to the Exchange and Commissary (especially if you don't have a rental car). The room was clean with two TV's and a kitchenette.
